Work placement information - ROC West Brabant
Work placements are also known as BPV, or vocational practice training, in MBO circles (intermediate vocational educational circles). The work placement plays an extremely important role in all courses. Full support and coordination are, of course, paramount.
Work placements
BOL (vocational training) students spend approximately 30 to 40 percent of their course in a work placement. The start and duration of the placements are different for each course. Sometimes a placement lasts for 12 months, but students usually spend three or six months in the workplace, five days a week. There are also alternating placements for some courses, where the student spends, for instance, three days a week in the workplace and attends college two days a week. Students on day release courses (BBL) attend college one day a week, and work at least twenty hours in a business.
Support
Students may do a work placement in the
A single point of contact
Each college has a single point of contact in each course/department for students needing a work placement: the BPV Bureau BPV assistants make contact with companies offering work placements, take care of the administrative process and coordinate the work placement from start to finish. Any questions about your placement or possible work placement locations may be addressed to the BPV staff. Further details can be found on the websites of the intermediate vocational colleges via www.rocwb.nl (in Dutch) and on www.letsgoabroad.nl/english.php (about work placements abroad).
